PIR Foilboard – The Ultimate Guide

At Tyne Insulation we have a great range of insulation boards, one of them being PIR foilboard. That has a number of different uses including roof, wall and floor systems, and comes in thicknesses ranging from 25mm-100mm.

The most popular brand for this product is Kingspan – while we don’t stock this, we do stock the direct alternatives of IKO Enertherm & Ballytherm, which provide the same high-quality at a cheaper price.

IKO enertherm ALU is a 100% CFC, HCFC or HFC-free insulation board with a rigid polyisocyanurate foam core, clad on both sides with a multi-layer gastight aluminium complex.

This high-quality product is made up of no fewer than seven layers, that have been combined into a single complex. These insulation boards have been tested under extreme conditions in every aspect of water absorption, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and emissivity – so you can be sure you’re using a product that can withstand a lot!

Applications

This product has plenty of different applications, and you will find no trouble in finding things to use it for.

• Rooftop – can be used for flat roof for insulation for timber, concrete and steel deck.
• Sarking – can be used for pitched roof insulation (type nF with natural felt).
• Floor – used in floor insulation (underfloor heating and concrete floors).
• Wall – can be used in cavity wall insulation.
• Wrap – in outside wall insulation (closed joints).
• Comfort – can be used in loft insulation.

The general use for a PIR foil board insulation is to offer customers high quality, low emissivity foil facings and a great thermal performance within cavity air spaces.

Not only that they have low global warming potential and zero ozone depletion potential, and will vastly increase the energy performance regardless of building age.
